One boulevard, three kinds of plumbing
Las Olas Boulevard runs from the downtown towers east across the bridges to the beach, and the plumbing changes character every few blocks. At the west end it is high-rise: shared risers, closet water heaters, shutoffs that affect neighbors and a front desk that needs to know we're coming. In the middle it is commercial — restaurants, galleries, salons and boutiques in older low buildings, where restrooms have to work during business hours and a grease line cannot pick a Saturday night to give up. Out past the bridges it is residential and on the water.

The buildings are old, the spaces are small, the restrooms were not built for the crowds they now serve, and the kitchens run volume through drain lines that were sized for something much quieter.
